How We Can Help You
Not all soils are created equal and many areas of deer habitat are deficient in some form of nutrient that can keep a deer from growing to its fullest potential. Large antlers are a luxury in biologic terms and are not needed for a deer to survive or reproduce so are one of the last things to grow. The biggest antlers are usually produced in the most fertile areas of deer range and are produced because the soils and forages provide more nutrients for deer growth.
Food plots have provided a great way to increase the quality of deer forage and have been a terrific way to draw in more deer and help with antler growth. Typically when planting food plots, people will submit a standard soil sample for testing. Standard soil tests will give pH, NPK levels along with possibly calcium or organic matter. These are great for knowing what fertilizer to put on to grow a plot but they don't give the full story as to what other trace elements you may need to amend with.
Deer Nutrition Labs provides in depth soil analysis looking at a number of key micronutrients known to be needed to optimize deer growth. Once we know what the soil needs, we can amend with several products we have available. We can also do in depth forage analysis and look at how the amendments are changing nutrient content in the plants and then we can use several products to further optimize nutrient concentrations to maximize deer growth. Deer Nutrition Labs also can provide supplements for feeding, creating mineral sites, and even improving water tank/pond nutrients for a multifaceted approach to deer nutrition.
Deer Nutrition Labs can do just the testing, provide products, or we can consult and be a resource in determining what deficiencies there are in the soil or forage and recommend ways to provide optimal nutrition.
Take a Scientific Approach to Deer Nutrition
It's impossible to know what minerals and nutrients you are lacking without in depth testing. Deer need a number of minerals to grow antlers at different points of the year.
